About Me

Life is an adventure, let’s explore it.

Hello! I’m Taunya

Licensed Professional Counselor C6765

My Approach & Values

I believe that everyone should be treated with respect, consideration and empathy.  This applies in all aspects of my practice and I have found that this enables me to discuss topics that might be disturbing and challenging.  Although I am a new counselor, I myself have a great deal of lived experience including my own childhood and adult trauma.  It was my efforts to resolve my own emotional issues that helped me to develop the insight and desire to become a counselor and help others.  I’m very good at listening, observing, patience, kindness and easily develop good rapport with a wide range of personalities.  I also have enjoy humor and have no problems being silly or serious depending on the mood.  I take an existential approach to my work, which means that I guide you to look at your life through a lens of what are you wanting to achieve and what gives you meaning.  My primary modalities are talk therapy combined with EMDR.  I also pull from DBT, CBT, Ego State therapy, Motivational Interviewing and a variety of other techniques.
